2025 was anything but quiet at RYMY. We kept the business running alongside our day jobs. Still, from a communications perspective, the year was quieter — and for a good reason.

About Us - RYMY Consulting
For construction and industrial projects — from design to site execution
RYMY Consulting brings together structural and steel structure design, BIM and Tekla expertise, as well as site management and project support into one practical service offering. We step in when schedules are tight, multiple stakeholders are involved and delivery needs to stay under control — on site or remotely.
- Experience across construction projects: design, BIM and site execution
- Our core expertise: steel structure design, demanding industrial construction projects, and maintaining and supporting Trimble software environments across design, production and site operations.
- Operating in Finland, the Nordics and across the EU
- Based in Urjala, Pirkanmaa, Finland — working flexibly on site and remotely
Why RYMY exists
In many construction projects, information and decision-making move slower than execution. Our role is to bring clarity to that chain — what needs to be done, in which order and with what information — so that design, production and site teams move in the same direction.
What motivates us is the moment when a project starts running smoothly without constant firefighting or clarification work.
What we do in practice
Structural and Steel Structure Design
- Practical, buildable solutions and clear documentation — delivered in 2D or 3D depending on project size and phase.
BIM Services
- BIM coordination, model integration and practical workflows that make models useful for decision-making, production and site execution.
- In addition to BIM coordination, we provide 4D site logistics scheduling to support site operations.
Software Services and Training
- Tekla Structures, Trimble Connect and Solibri environments: implementation, integrations, key-user support and training.
Site Management & Project Support (on-site / remote)
- Support for daily project and site execution: coordination, project overview, workflow rhythm and delivery assurance.
- Especially suited for construction and industrial projects where changes and dependencies are part of everyday work.
How we work
Clear project overview: Project goals, stakeholders, information flows and risk areas.
Ground rules: Information management, model structure, review practices and communication rhythm.
Execution: Design, coordination or site management — based on the agreed role.
Verification: Production readiness, clarity and compatibility.
Continuous improvement: Addressing root causes instead of temporary fixes.

OUR STORY
RYMY was founded in 2021 from a practical need: to bring BIM, digital design workflows, production and construction sites closer together. As the company grew and its services expanded, RM Ylimäki Oy evolved into RYMY Consulting.
We are a small team, and that is one of our strengths. Work moves forward efficiently, responsibilities remain clear, and our services can be adapted flexibly to match client needs and project demand.
Innovation, solution-focused thinking and flexibility
We approach every project with genuine curiosity and actively look for new ways to develop both our clients' operations and the industry around us. Our services are adapted flexibly to client needs, with a clear focus on solutions that work in practice and create real value.
Continuous learning and development are a central part of how we operate, and when needed, we create new services to respond to changing market needs.
Listening and working together
We work closely both within our own team and with our clients. By carefully identifying needs, listening and asking the right questions, we find the best solutions together. Collaboration and open dialogue form the foundation of successful projects.
Team RYMY
RYMY's strength lies in being a small and agile team, where technical expertise, business development and communication support one another. Clear roles help keep the work running smoothly and client needs in focus.

MARKUS YLIMÄKI
Founder, CEO
I am a Bachelor of Construction Management (BEng) with more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry. For over 15 years, I have worked with structural and steel structure design, BIM coordination, digital models and Tekla environments.
My strength is a broad practical understanding of how construction projects move forward and what different parties need to make the whole project work. My career has taken me through the construction chain in an unusually wide range of roles: from site work to design, from design offices to a major contractor, from residential construction to demanding industrial construction projects, and into public-sector roles in building control and municipal engineering. This gives me a practical understanding of different stakeholders' perspectives, not just a theoretical one.
My background includes roles at WSP Finland and A-Insinöörit in structural and steel design, Tekla Structures key-user and development roles, and development engineering at Skanska, where BIM practices were advanced from both design and production perspectives. I have also worked as a designer, site supervisor and site manager in residential construction, as a building inspector, and as a municipal infrastructure manager.
Alongside practical work, I have deepened my expertise through studies. I started on site, and my educational background includes a vocational qualification in technical design as well as studies in construction & industrial engineering and management, and construction management. This broad combination has given me a strong foundation for viewing projects from technical, production and practical delivery perspectives.
For clients, this means above all that I understand how design, production, site operations, regulatory requirements and project management need to work together. My aim is to find solutions that do not remain only in drawings or digital models, but genuinely support successful project delivery in practice.

MINNA PULLA YLIMÄKI
Marketing, communications and business development
I am responsible for RYMY Consulting's marketing, communications and business development. My work combines developing visibility, content and messaging, supporting new client acquisition, and clarifying both our services and the way we operate.
My background combines extensive experience in HR as well as roles in marketing and communications in SMEs and international organizations across different industries. I hold a BBA, and my expertise is further supported by studies in international business management and marketing.
At RYMY, my role extends beyond marketing. I am involved in developing customer understanding, services, operating models and the company's direction. Business development as a whole is genuinely important to me, and I want to build RYMY in a long-term, clear and sustainable way.
How RYMY's expertise benefits clients
RYMY's clients gain a partner with experience across a broad range of the construction industry — from the perspectives of the client, developer, designer and inspector alike. A partner who understands not only design, but also the realities of production and site work, and who can communicate and coordinate matters between project stakeholders so that decision-making is smooth, clear and efficient.
Who we work with
We work especially with machine shops, steel structure manufacturers, contractors, design offices, and clients in industrial construction projects. Our clients particularly value the fact that, in addition to design, we also understand the needs of production, site operations and project delivery.
Where we work
We mainly operate in Finland, the Nordics and across the EU. We work flexibly both on site and remotely — in many cases, a hybrid model works best: critical phases on site, with ongoing coordination and model-based work handled remotely.

Frequently asked questions
What kind of clients do you typically work with?
- We typically work with fabrication workshops, steel structure manufacturers, contractors, design offices, and clients in construction and industrial projects — especially where design, production and site operations need to work together smoothly.
Do you provide both design and BIM coordination?
- Yes. We can act as a designer, coordinator or support an existing team — depending on project needs.
What kind of software environments can you help with?
- We support the practical use, development and maintenance of Tekla Structures and PowerFab and Trimble Connect software environments in design, production and site operations.
Do you have practical Tekla Structures experience?
- Yes. Our experience includes design work, key-user roles, software environment development, and the development of working practices around Tekla Structures.

Can services be delivered remotely?
- Yes. Services can be delivered remotely, on site, or in a hybrid model, depending on what best supports the project.
How does collaboration start?
- We begin with a short assessment (project scope, schedule, roles and available information) and propose a clear way forward.
Latest from RYMY
We write about projects, practical solutions, and what we do at RYMY.
In 2009, I took a laptop to the construction site and opened the BIM model for the installation crew. At the time, that was not yet standard practice, even though model-based design was already common in design offices. This industrial project showed in concrete terms how much up-to-date information, clear interfaces, and a shared understanding of...
I started in construction industry at the age of 16 as a summer worker. My job was to paint staff facilities in Oulu, Finland – a Walkman in my pocket and paint on my shoes. In this article, I share how that beginning eventually led me into structural design, BIM and digital models, and ultimately entrepreneurship – and what...
When the schedule is tight and installation needs to keep moving as planned, the main task of design is to make sure the solution is practical to fabricate and straightforward to install. RYMY delivered model-based workshop and erection planning for a project in Northern Sweden in collaboration with LTR-Rakennus Ltd.
