Workshop and erection planning for the Stegra Boden in cooperation with LTR-Rakennus

When the schedule is tight and installation needs to keep moving as planned, the main task of design is to make sure the solution is practical to fabricate and straightforward to install. RYMY delivered model-based workshop and erection planning for the Stegra Boden site area in Sweden in collaboration with LTR-Rakennus Ltd.

Delivery in brief

RYMY's delivery was produced on a model basis. The model was used in the workshop for the fabrication of parts and assemblies, and it was also used within the workshop's production control system.

"We delivered workshop planning—part and assembly drawings for fabrication, as well as erection drawings for site installation," says RYMY Consulting CEO and structural designer Markus Ylimäki.

Coordination and installability in practice

The key focus in the project was scheduling, coordination and erection. The core of the coordination work was aligning workshop deliveries with site erections, so that the overall scope progressed as planned both in fabrication and on site.

A key focus was the connections of the trusses to the frame, as well as delivering the frame with the erection sequence in mind. Solutions were developed together with the workshop and the erection team to keep execution clear in both fabrication and erection. During the project, small changes were made and implemented during the design phase.

"Co-operation between design, fabrication and erection worked well. Direct communication with LTR-Rakennus helped keep discussions and decisions clear," Ylimäki concludes.
