Year 2025: A Lot of Work, Little Noise — Sharper Focus

20/03/2026

2025 was anything but quiet at RYMY. We kept the business running alongside our day jobs. Still, from a communications perspective, the year was quieter — and for a good reason.

We took a step back and revisited the fundamentals: who RYMY is, who we exist for, and what we truly deliver for our clients. We clarified our focus, shaped our services, and defined more precisely who we serve — and where we're heading next.

Long sales cycles and cash flow — why running part-time held us back

In B2B, sales cycles are long: some opportunities take more than a year to mature. At the same time, day-to-day reality requires steady cash flow — which means smaller, shorter-scope assignments also need to be part of the mix, so revenue keeps coming in.

In that equation, running the business part-time was holding us back. Resources were limited, and we couldn't actively pursue larger scopes unless we could also commit to capacity and availability. That's also why our communications and marketing stayed minimal by necessity — we didn't want to sell something we couldn't deliver.

At that point, we also had to sharpen our purpose and direction and return to the basic question: what do we deliver — and to whom? What is the core capability where we're at our best, and how do we build on it consistently?

The moment our focus clicked into place

When we brought the company out of dormancy in 2024, we were already asking big questions: what do we do, who do we do it for, and how do we stand out? During 2025, our understanding of business, marketing, and market demand deepened — and we had to think in much more detail about where we're going.

One evening, we sat down and put a simple question on the table:

"What do you, Markus, enjoy most in your work? Where are you at your best?"

The answer came instantly:

  • Structural engineering — especially structural steel design — working with BIM models, strong Tekla Structures and Trimble Connect skills, and practical, hands-on delivery.
  • And maybe most importantly: a real drive to get out to site — where it all becomes real, with people, in the middle of the action.

Once that was said out loud, the focus became clear: projects where design, BIM, and execution meet in everyday reality. The most natural fit for us is working with fabrication shops and industrial projects — but that same core capability also supports other construction projects when clear design, a reliable BIM model, and smooth handoffs all the way to site are needed.

The choices that made the business clearer

When focus sharpens, you also must make clear choices about what you offer. You simply can't offer everything to everyone.

We deliberately kept BIM coordination as a smaller part of our offering. Not because we lack the skills or interest — but because BIM coordination engagements are often large, resource-intensive scopes that tie up capacity, and because the market is highly competitive. For us, it was a straightforward focus decision.

RYMY's strongest capability — and passion — is in design and the day-to-day realities of the site. That's where we want to focus our time and resources.

As we made these choices, we also looked closely at how our services support each other. Most clients don't need just one isolated piece — they need the whole: design, modeling, fabrication and installation perspectives, and solutions that work in real-world conditions. We shaped our service packages so they connect: for one client, we can deliver multiple services that have real impact on the overall project — and that make interfaces visible and workable in practice.

Our promise: lead time, flexibility, and capacity

In day-to-day work, what matters most is that deliveries hold — and that we can flex when needed.

RYMY's strength is that we meet agreed delivery dates without lead times becoming unnecessarily long. When a project requires flexibility, we can adjust pace and priorities as needed. And if progress temporarily depends on other work phases, we can step in with additional services that keep the project moving forward.

The biggest change, though, is capacity: now that we do this full time, we have a full month of working hours available. That means we can take part in larger and broader projects — and contribute to multiple roles when needed.

Market situation: industry is picking up, construction is still challenged

The overall market in construction is still challenging, and there's no point sugarcoating it. At the same time, there's a clear bright spot on the industrial side: projects are moving forward, and activity is picking up.

For us, that's an important signal — because in these kinds of projects, what we're best at stands out: the interfaces between design, BIM modeling, and execution, and practical smoothness all the way to the site.

Year 2026: going full-time with full speed and clear focus

We've been running two jobs in parallel since 2021: an expert by day for another employer, and an entrepreneur in the evenings. Those years brought a lot of learning and got the company moving, but in the long run it isn't sustainable. It's hard to give 100% to two jobs without something taking a hit — your work, your business, your motivation, your energy, or family life.

We had been dreaming of full-time entrepreneurship for years. We used 2025 to prepare for it: clarifying the business, shaping the services, and making sure we know where we're going.

And in 2026, it was time to take the leap — even with the uncertainty that comes with entrepreneurship — and put our full energy into it.

It's now March 2026. The first quarter is almost behind us, and the direction looks good. Our long-term goal is to grow RYMY in a controlled way: build a network and, when the time is right, hire or bring in other professionals for critical projects — so the client gets an approachable, trusted partner with broader shoulders when needed.

Our practical promise to clients is straightforward: responsive communication and reliable scheduling. When a project needs a partner who's easy to reach and who keeps project moving on the agreed timeline, it shows up in day-to-day execution — and ultimately in the result.

FAQ

What is RYMY's core focus today?

Structural engineering with an emphasis on structural steel design, BIM-based delivery (Tekla Structures / Trimble Connect), and practical handoffs that support fabrication and site execution

Do you only work on industrial projects?

Industrial and fabrication-driven projects are a natural fit for us, but the same approach works anywhere clear design, a reliable BIM model, and smooth interfaces are critical.

What does "reliable scheduling" mean in practice?

Clear delivery dates, responsive communication, and the ability to adjust pace and priorities when project needs change.

Can you support both design and BIM workflows?

Yes. We combine structural design with BIM workflows so the model and deliverables support fabrication and site needs.

How do we get started?

Send us a short description of your project scope and timeline. We'll suggest the best next step and a practical way to move forward.
